Bucharest, Romania

Image
I decided to squeeze in one last chaotic weekend trip! This time, Tori and I headed to  Romania!  We flew out of  Luton  on Friday night, which is never fun, Luton is my least favourite London airport, but to make matters worse, our flight was delayed. We were already meant to land in  Bucharest  quite late, but with the delays/time change, we landed around 2:30 am. We took a Bolt from the airport to our hostel, which was super easy, and we checked in and headed to bed.  We stayed at  T5 Social Hostel , which I would 100% recommend if you ever find yourself in Bucharest. It is super nice, clean, social and friendly. They have daily events where Romanian locals join in, and they have a stunning garden/bar area. The beds are also exceptionally comfy! We slept in a little on Saturday morning as we were exhausted. When we got up, we got ready and walked down the street to a little corner shop. We got some fresh cherries and some bottles of water. I couldn't believe the prices! It costs

Canada Day & Concerts

July 1st brought about some good old Canadian celebrating for Canada Day. The day began with a lovely Saturday morning breakfast with Tori and Jin at  The Terrace  Restaurant by  Megan's  in  Clapham Common . It is an adorable little Mediterranean terrace in the park. Upon arriving, you walk through a magical archway of plants and fairy lights. It is decorated with olive trees, potted plants, and wicker decor. Tori and I shared Shakshuka and the most delicious pancakes. After breakfast, we got ready for our park day. Our whole Canadian group headed to Regent's Park for the afternoon. We combined our group with Luzey's Birthday and we had a few friends bring their boyfriends to be met for the first time. It was fun having a different mix of people, it was really random but it worked; everyone got along really well. We had some drinks (I drank a Caesar of course) and Jell-O shots and snacks. We played beer darts, sociables, had three legged and wheelbarrow races and had lots

Weekend in Cornwall: Driving on the Left and Surfing!

Image
Beth and I took a super quick weekend trip to  Cornwall ; it was a jam-packed weekend. Ideally, it would be best if you took longer than a weekend to explore Cornwall, but it has been on my list since I moved here nearly two years ago, and I've nearly run out of time. We rented a car for the weekend, and I drove. It was my first time driving on the 'wrong' side of the road. Initially, it was a bit weird, but not nearly as bad as I thought. I was shocked. I thought the hardest part would be remembering to stay on the left side and turn into the correct lane. However, this part felt pretty normal. The one thing I found a bit tricky was not drifting too far to the left. Because I was driving on the right side of the car, I was close to the oncoming traffic. My instinct was to move left, but then I would get close to the curb. After the three days, though, it felt much more natural and was actually fun.  On Friday evening, after work, we drove to  Newquay . We stayed at the  Mo

Late Nights in the Middle of June: June Dump

Image
June has been filled with sunshine, socializing, and lots of reading in the park! I've been madly trying to pack all of the things in before I move home.  Work has been decent. There are always some fun trips in the Summer term. Josh and I took 24-year 3/5s on a day trip to  Oxford  for a sports competition. We loaded the kids on the couch and made the 2+ hour journey. After dealing with some motion-sick children (gross) and hearing the same questions repeated a million times "Are we there yet?" and "How much longer?" we made it! The event was held at the  Oxford University  sports complex. It is cool to say I've been inside now, though it isn't as impressive as you might imagine. The kids participated in various sports competitions and had a lot of fun. After, we made the long journey back to the school. It was a fun day! We also took the Year 3's to Tate Modern, which was a pleasant trip overall. It was fun talking to the kids about what makes some
