May Flowers

I have been trying to take advantage of the theatre scene in London during my last few months here. In the last few weeks I have seen two very fun productions. The first was Dirty Dancing with Jin and Tori at the Dominion Theatre. The dancing was incredible, it was a lot of fun! The other one I saw was Newsies with Tori and her siblings visiting from Canada - we also ran into Ireland and Nefeli - off West End at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre which was a really cool theatre. The dancing was great and the cast came right into the audience during parts of the show. I really love going to shows!

It's officially London park picnic season!!! Jin, Tori and her siblings and I kicked it off with a lovely weeknight evening picnic at Clapham Common. For Jin's Birthday on the 13th we all got together at Hyde park. Unfortunately, the gorgeous forecast turned out to be wrong and it was rather cloudy and cold. We made the best of it and had some fantastic snacks, and drinks. We visited and tossed around a football and rugby ball. Finally, when we became too cold we wandered to a nearby pub and caught the end of the Eurovision competition, I'm not sure I understand what all the hype around it is for. I spent a lovely Sunday afternoon laying in the sun in Larkhall Park reading my book, it was so nice! I'm determined to bring the picnic park hangout culture back into my friend groups in Canada.
My friends and I have been trying to soak up our last few months together. Haley and I had a lovely catch up on the Canalside Green Steps in Granary Square at Kings Cross. It is such a vibe there, I cannot wait until they bring back the movies by the canal. Tara, Jin, Kat and I had a lovely afternoon drinking wine and eating cheese at the wonderful Gordon's Wine Bar, it is such a nice place! On the morning of Jin's Birthday, we went to the gym and then found the cutest Moroccan cafe nearby called The Coffee Lovers fl Cafe. We got mint tea and delicious food, the flavours were incredible. spent a whole Sunday at Twickenham Stadium for the Rugby 7's Finals. A group of us arrived around 11am and stayed until 6pm. We saw many different countries play each other including Canada! It was a super fun day, everyone was dressed up in fun costumes and just having the time of their lives.

I've really been enjoying work lately since I have taken on teaching my small group of Year 3's. It is nice to feel like I have my own mini class, and the consistency has been good. I was away the weekend of the King's Coronation so I didn't do much to celebrate it. At school however, we had a Coronation Tea Party for the last hour of the day on the Friday. Parents came in, the kids got to eat cake and snacks, we made crowns and coloured pictures and played freeze dance. It was a great/chaotic time! and I had a lovely Turkish dinner at our coworker Emine's house. We hung out with her lovely 9-year old daughter Anaya and her super funny nephew from Liverpool. It was a fantastic evening with great company! I love my coworkers, Friday night work drinks at the pub have recently been filled with many games of foosball which have gotten very competitive and have been a lot of fun. We've also enjoyed taking advantage of the patio as the weather is finally warming up!
